Renewable Energy Virtual Masterclass for Diaspora Entrepreneurs ENERGYBIZZ2020

RemitFund hosts the Renewable Energy Masterclass as a part of a series of masterclasses to provide training for entrepreneurs from the African diaspora, who wish to create and scale sustainable businesses that positively impact the continent.

Why renewable energy? According to the African Development Bank, Africa has the lowest electrification rate of all regions. It is estimated that only 42% of the population has access to electricity, compared with 75% in the developing world. If current trends continue, less than half of African countries will reach universal access to electricity by 2050.

The purpose of the renewable energy masterclass is to strengthen the pipeline of businesses in the clean energy sector, that are eligible for funding from RemitFund’s African Diaspora Investment Fund (ADIF). Attendees will receive tailored investment readiness training from industry experts, as well as general business training in areas such as digital marketing. Selected entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to participate in a “Shark Tank” style pitch to a panel of experts and investors during the event, as part of RemitFund’s #PitchMyBiz campaign.
