Training of the Arror Community in Maregut

The Arror community is one of the 9 subgroups of the Tugen (Tugen-speaking community) of Baringo. The Tugen are highland nilotes stemming from the larger Kalenjin community in the lowlands of Kenya’s Rift Valley. They are also known as Kamasia. Two groupings of Tugen exist – the highland (also known as Sammor who predominantly agropastoralists & beekeepers) and the North Tugen (Arror) who are historically pastoralists but only recently grow crops and keep hives. The Arror have a sentimental attachment to livestock because it is a measure of wealth and are commonly known for their husbandry and beekeeping.
